All about Bushcraft - Bushbox LF Titanium Premium Set
With this high-quality combination, outdoor fans are perfectly equipped for any adventure. The Bushbox LF Titanium Premium Set combines everything that Bushcraft Essentials stands for: quality, excellent craftsmanship, high-grade materials, and multifunctionality. Included in the set are:
Bushbox LF Titanium
It combines the advantages of the Bushbox and the Bushbox XL in one stove: small, foldable, and with excellent draft.
The ultra-light titanium version weighs just 270 g.
Its sophisticated design offers versatile application possibilities: cooking, heating, grilling, etc.
The unique, elaborately crafted hinges do not get stuck even if something spills while cooking, ensuring the Bushbox LF can be set up and folded back together in no time.
Like all outdoor stoves from Bushcraft Essentials, the Bushbox LF Titanium is multi-fuel capable (operation with wood, Esbit, Trangia, etc. is possible) and is made in Germany.
Leather Pouch Bushbox LF
The handmade, superior-quality pouch offers enough space to store the Bushbox LF Titanium, the trivets, and the universal grate.
The pouch is made of high-quality, vegetable-tanned cowhide and is equipped with sturdy seams for maximum durability.
The leather pouch can be attached to a belt or backpack via the loop (6 cm) on the back. This keeps the stove and accessories within reach at all times.
Universal Grate Bushbox LF (Titanium)
The universal grate is versatile: placed on top as a grill or as a stable base for smaller pots and cups. Inserted halfway down, it forms a perfect floor for the use of spirit burners (Trangia). In the middle position, it is ideal for wood pellets or charcoal.
Trivet Set (2 pieces)
The included trivets can be used in various ways: they can be inserted at the top of the stove so that even small vessels can be heated. With their help, an external heat source (e.g., Trangia) can also be placed at any height in the Bushbox LF Titanium.
The trivets are also great for transporting or moving the hot stove.
Dimensions approx. 16.5 x 12.5 x 4 cm
Weight approx. 445 g (leather pouch with inserted Bushbox LF Titanium, universal grate, and trivets)
Notes on Hobo Stove Firing
Soot/Smoke: Soot formation always means: lack of oxygen and combustion temperatures that are too low. When fired correctly, no significant soot can be produced in a Bushbox XL or a Bushbox LF. Soot and smoke are always signs of incorrect firing.
Chimney effect: The basic principle of a hobo stove is the chimney effect; our stoves are additionally built in such a way that the Coanda effect can also come into play more effectively. Both physical effects require that the air supply is ensured so that an airflow is created that supplies oxygen, which on one hand reaches very high temperatures (up to 800 degrees) and at the same time (and this is the most important point) the heat is carried upwards by the airflow and reaches the pot almost completely, instead of radiating out through the sides.
Optimal operation: A hobo stove is operated optimally when there is relatively little fuel in the combustion chamber. The wood then burns very hot, the heat is only partially transferred to the outer walls, smoke and soot cannot form (if soot does form, it burns off without residue), and almost no warping occurs because there is no localized heating of the side walls. If the hobo has been fired optimally, there are also almost no residues or ash, only a tiny pile of very light, almost white ash.
One should also ensure to avoid "yo-yo heating" (constantly changing temperatures) and extreme temperature differences (quenching in cold water).
In many of the videos circulating on the internet, however, the boxes are stuffed to the brim and you can sometimes see a meter-high flame shooting out of the hobo. But this leads to the following problems: The chimney effect is severely restricted, the combustion temperature drops to around 200-300 degrees, and smoke and soot are produced. Burning material touches the side walls in many places, which leads to strongly uneven heating of the side walls and at the same time the transfer of a lot of energy to the side walls. Heat islands or a strong temperature gradient between top and bottom are created, whereby another physical effect can develop optimally, namely warping.
Improper use: Many misunderstandings also arise because some of our customers use the stoves as a mobile campfire and expose them to hours of yo-yo heating and occasional overheating. Our stoves do have to prove that they can withstand such things and can still be folded afterwards or remain fully functional, but no normal steel survives this permanently without damage (just as little as quenching in cold water).
Warping: Warping is a physical phenomenon that is unavoidable if metal is heated unevenly (and therefore expands unevenly). Slight warping is therefore unavoidable and normal. All our hobos are, however, designed in such a way that warping only occurs to a very moderate extent during intended use and the function of the hobo is not impaired in any way.
