PRODUCT DETAILS

All about Dvardala forest axe/hunting axe 44cm

Dvardala is a perfect axe for hunting and forestry. It is a combination of several different axe types, ideal for a day in the forest, during which you may encounter a multitude of challenges. It has the same head type as the Hultafors Åby Forest Axe, but the handle at 440 mm (17 inches) is shorter, making the axe easier to carry, for example in a backpack.
The shorter handle also makes it easier to work with the axe close to the body. The axe is suitable for precision work such as carving or building shelters, fire pits, and other things around a campsite. This is ensured by a well-proportioned grip area and a semi-straight edge with a flat and wide grind. The grip area allows you to hold the axe directly by the head and thus work with maximum control.
The semi-straight cutting edge has flatter cheeks, so the axe rests firmly on the workpiece when you are hacking along a piece of wood. Nevertheless, the curvature of the edge is sufficient to use the axe for lighter forestry work such as clearing a path or cutting a fire line. The head is slightly thicker at the cheeks, which gives it good splitting ability, making it also excellent for chopping firewood.

Dvardala is a gift that hunters all over the world will appreciate, and it is naturally also useful for processing game in the field. The axe is hand-forged in our Hults Bruk smithy according to our traditions from 1697. The head weighs nominally 0.7 kg and is made of Swedish CO2-neutral axe steel. The semi-straight edge is provided with a premium Scandinavian grind, polished, razor-sharp, and ready to use. The curved, narrow handle of the axe is provided with a distinct end knob, which allows for a secure grip. The sheath is made in Sweden from hides of Swedish cows and produced with the greatest consideration for the animals and the environment. The leather is vegetable-tanned full-grain leather for the best possible durability. The natural treatment ensures that it ages beautifully over the course of use. The axe was named after the old name for the forest area north of Hults Bruk, Dvardala. The Kolmården forest begins here, and from Borgar Mountain in Dvardala, there is a fantastic view of the area, which is known for its good hunting conditions in terms of both red deer and wild boar. Take good care of your axe, and it will be a loyal companion for many years to come.

The Wetterhall Forest/Throwing Axe has a double-sided striking head. This type of double-bit axe was originally used by lumberjacks who benefited from having a sharp axe at hand at all times. Thus, one side was used for rough work and the other for fine work. Today, the axe is mainly used in competitions among enthusiasts as a throwing axe. Like all Hultafors axes, the Wetterhall Throwing Axe is hand-forged and made of quality Swedish steel. As part of the head forging process, the steel axe head was struck 40–60 times, which increased the density and thus made the axe head more robust. The high-quality handle made of American hickory, the hand-forged steel head, and the razor-sharp edge stand for the first-class quality and longevity of the axe. Thanks to the included edge protector, which covers both edges, the axe can be transported without any problems. It was named after the blacksmith Wetterhall, who worked longer than anyone else at Hults Bruk.
