The original magnesium fire starter is robust, durable, and functional. Developed for the army, it meets the highest standards. 3,000 strikes with 3,000° Celsius sparks ignite a fire in any weather and at any altitude. Strike, start a fire, warm up, and prepare food – it's that simple. Ergonomic design with an integrated emergency whistle.

The legendary Swedish FireSteel fire starter with a magnesium alloy was first developed for the Swedish Ministry of Defence. It was the first tool to reliably start a fire at high altitudes and in low temperatures. With its ability to ignite flammable gases or liquids directly, the Swedish FireSteel fire starter is perfect for traditional alcohol and modern gas stoves. This versatility has made it very popular with many military units around the world. The fire starter, manufactured in Sweden by Light My Fire, has been further developed in its design and equipped with a precision stainless steel striker, an ergonomic handle, and an integrated emergency whistle.

HOW IT WORKS
The Swedish FireSteel fire starter consists of two components – the striker and the rod. The rod is made of a high-quality pyrophoric metal alloy of iron, magnesium, lanthanum, and cerium. The precision-ground edge of the stainless steel striker guarantees maximum spark production. Scraping against the rod creates tiny metal shavings through friction, which oxidize immediately and become very hot sparks. The remarkable difference between the Swedish FireSteel fire starter and other friction-based fire starters, often called ferrocerium rods, is the proprietary hardening process, which produces a high-quality, long-lasting material without compromising its consistency.

HOW TO START A FIRE WITH LIGHT MY FIRE
1. Collect small sticks, bark, or similar flammable material. The smaller, the better, as it is easier to ignite.
2. Stack everything into a small pile.
3. Get out your Swedish FireSteel or the integrated FireSteel from your FireKnife.
4. Use paper, birch bark, or, better yet, TinderSticks or Tinder-on-a-Rope. Scrape off some shavings and place them carefully under the small pile. With its 80% resin content, Honduras pine wood is an optimal fire starter. It burns slowly with great heat and is moisture-resistant.
5. Start with small sticks and build the fire carefully. Let it grow slowly. Ensure your fire gets enough oxygen - and be patient.

BENEFITS AND USE
The main advantage of the Swedish FireSteel fire starter over conventional ignition aids is its absolute reliability. The Swedish FireSteel is very robust and requires neither flint, lighter fluid, batteries, nor spare parts. The Swedish FireSteel fire starter even works under harsh conditions such as extreme cold, where gas barely vaporizes and is difficult to ignite. Unlike a butane lighter, which is affected by both moisture and the lack of oxygen at high altitudes, the Swedish FireSteel works flawlessly at any altitude. Its sparks are bright enough to be used as an emergency signal. To ensure nothing is lost, the striker and rod are attached with a cord. Small and compact, the set fits into any pocket.
