Modestone® notebooks are the result of many years of product development. The idea for waterproof notebooks emerged when Kalle Kinnunen was serving in the Finnish Defence Forces and his important notes from the non-commissioned officer school were destroyed by water.
The first challenge was to find a perfect material for the pages, and Modestone® paper was the absolute best choice. It is water and grease resistant, does not tear easily, and is not eaten by insects.
Modestone® stone paper has another amazing property: you can write on it with an old key or even a cartridge. This allows you to write in tight spaces without using a pen.

- 7,480 gallons of fresh water are saved
- Reduction of CO2 release
- 19.05 kg less waterborne waste
- 107.05 kg of atmospheric emissions are avoided
- 6 million BTUs of energy are not consumed
- 20 trees are not cut down
