The Peltonen whetstone is an authentic Finnish natural product made from locally mined phyllite, processed to be optimally suited for sharpening knives. In Finland, phyllite has been used for this purpose for centuries.

Phyllite consists of mica and quartz and is mined abundantly in Finland, among other things for paving stones. However, it is also used for the production of whetstones. A whetstone made of phyllite is particularly well-suited for sharpening carbon steel blades. Harder steel grades can also be sharpened, though this process takes longer. In such cases, it is advisable to use plenty of water.

The Peltonen whetstone is a reliable tool for sharpeners: compact in size (100x22x8mm), handy, and proven to be effective. With this stone, you can effortlessly sharpen both small and larger knives. Remember to always use water when sharpening with the Peltonen whetstone.
